Who am I?

The Gourmez

The Gourmez

My name is Becca Gomez Farrell and I am a freelance writer and editor. I live with my husband, Ben, in Durham, NC, which is only the most recent stop on what will hopefully include many more locales.  I love to travel, to move, to experience life through new people and places.  I’m fascinated by humanity and our quest for understanding the bigger picture, how we relate to each other in different cultures, nations, and pubs down the street, and how we choose to live our lives.

My writing projects include a fantasy novel, modern short fiction, creative nonfiction, and the food and drink reviews on this blog. I also write a weekly column on General Hospital for Eye on Soaps and the General Hospital Fan Club under the same nom de plume, and I post restaurant reviews at Carpe Durham under the name MEZ.

For editing, I work with students, authors, and other individuals to provide quality critiques and polishing of manuscripts, blog posts, and research papers. I have completed work on a number of theses, dissertations, and nonfiction books, but I would love to branch into fiction editing as well.

Please shoot me an e-mail at becca@thegourmez.com, if you are looking for editing assistance with your work or have any feedback to give me, whether a restaurant recommendation or a news release.  You can also find me on twitter @thegourmez.

Thanks for visiting. I hope you make this a return ticket.

“A purpose of human life, no matter who is controlling it, is to love whoever is around to be loved.”
